Fred Schilling, 91, beloved husband of Marjorie, his wife of 63 years, passed away on August 5, 2017 after a short illness at Island Hospital in Anacortes. Fred resided at the Lighthouse facility prior to his death. Fred leaves behind his loving wife Marjorie as well as his four children, their husbands, his nieces and nephews, brother and sister, and grandchild. Before retiring, Fred spent 32 years at Pan American Airlines where he was instrumental in their cargo operations. Fred was a master gardener and was into organic gardening before it became fashionable. Fred’s passions included spending time with his wife, children, walking, being in the great outdoors, gardening, building projects, and humanitarian causes. Fred and Marjorie started their marriage living on a houseboat on Lake Washington, moved into a house in South Seattle, and then built the house of their dreams that they resided in for 42 years. Fred enjoyed engaging conversations on any topic and always had a kind word about everyone he met. Fred is loved and missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. At Fred’s request, there will be no viewing or funeral service.
